This week

Well the holidays have come and gone (although you wouldn't know judging by my living room-- Christmas tree still up and fully decorated).

The past few days I've watched as folks have filled my facebook news feed with their resolutions, goals, etc. And I've thought about my own.

As we enter the new year, we're faced with  the glaring reality that Pierce is likely facing his third shunt surgery. This Thursday (tomorrow), we will meet with a new neurosurgeon to get a second opinion on Pierce's case and then next Tuesday (the 8th) we will meet back with Pierce's current surgeon to discuss/decide our course of action.

We would really covet your prayers over the next week.
Prayers for wisdom for us and the surgeons.
We also ask that you would join us in praying that Pierce would be a candidate for a less invasive procedure that wouldn't require a permanent shunt.
Of course, our desire is that Pierce would not need ANY surgery, but the reality of the last scan was that surgery is needed.

As I reflect on this past year, I can't help but find myself so grateful for the many blessings God has allowed in 2012. Pierce never needed a shunt revision (we were told that was highly likely) and in fact, never needed to visit the hospital in 2012. He was only sick twice with minor colds. We said goodbye to oxygen, monitors. Questions about Pierce's development were answered. We've watched as Pierce has started thriving. We've added new therapists and Pierce seems to be thriving under each and every one of them. Each day he learns new things and he's always exploring more.

We truly are so, so thankful to God for each and every one of these blessings. And we are trusting that in this next trial, He is still good. Still Sovereign. And still full of love, grace and mercy.

May you discover that as well as you enter a new year.

Thank you for walking this journey with us.
Lindsay, Nik and Pierce

  4. I am praying! I am so curious to hear about the third, non-invasive option. If it's what I think you are talking about, that would be so wonderful (I'm wondering if Jack is a candidate). Of course no surgery would be amazing! Praying for wisdom as you go into these next appointments!
