Today was a pretty quiet day. Pierce has been doing relatively well- still on 21% o2 and 2 liters. Pierce did have his ultrasound done earlier today. We waited all day at his bedside for the results and wouldn't you know, right after we left the neurosurgeon came in to update us?! So the unofficial report (what was relayed to us when we got back in) we got was that there was not much change in the scan this week and that we could either proceed with placing a shunt at the end of this week (the neurosurgeon is leaving to go out of town for 3 weeks after Friday) or we could wait- no big deal (Easy for him to say. To us, it's a very big deal!). Unfortunately we don't have much more info. We will wait to talk with Dr.Heafner tomorrow and hopefully have some of our many questions answered. Please pray that God grants us wisdom as we talk with the Dr. and that He guides us to the right solution for Pierce.

In other news, Pierce began bottle feeding again today after a few days off from surgery. So far we've had two failed attempts- both times he seemed rather disinterested in the bottle. Please pray that Pierce goes back to taking his bottles well like he was doing before surgery. This is a big concern because often times babies can develop an oral aversion after being intubated. Please pray that this is not the case and that our little guy will start eating soon.

Some days it feels like we've come so far, other days it feels like we still have so far to go. There are still so many unknowns on the table and we literally just have to take it one day at a time.

Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to pray for Pierce and for endurance for us. We will update you as soon as we know more about the shunt.

Christ is All,
Lindsay, Nik and Pierce

  1. You guys have serious come so far! And it's often the last few weeks that seem to take the longest. I know you just desperately want him in your arms, in your OWN home. I am continuing to pray for everything that has to happen to get P home... Feedings, O2, potential surgeries... for it all. Hugs!!!
