We just got back from seeing the little guy. God has shown His grace throughout this ordeal but it is going to take more and more grace to get through this. He began regressing in his lungs yesterday, so they had to revert back to an oscillating machine. He is doing fine on that. However, recent blood test show high levels of potassium which likely means that he is bleeding internally somewhere. Last night was rough and he got bruised a lot while they were working on him, but the doctors do not think that it was enough to give off the high levels of potassium. So they are going to go ahead and do an ultrasound on his brain because they believe that is where he could be bleeding. Please pray for him. Blood in the brain or not, God is sovereign over Pierce's body and life. We are pressing forward in faith. God is a God "who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist" (Romans 4:17). He can heal Pierce's lungs, brain, liver, intestines, any part of his body with one word. God is in control of all things and has purposes in this moment that we cannot see at this time or may never see in this life. Lindsay and I have been pressed harder in this more than any other time in our life, still we are not crushed or in despair. We have been greatly humbled by all the prayer. Please, please don't stop praying.
The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:5-7)

Though I don't know you, Nik & Lindsay, I think you know my husband Jeremiah from RTS. Our baby is due around the same time as Pierce was, so your story really resonated with me! I wanted to let you guys that we are praying for you constantly, and every time my baby kicks I think of little Pierce and say a prayer for him. I can't imagine what you must be feeling not being able to hold your little one right now, but just remember that God is holding him in His own hands and comforting him in the ways that you are unable to right now! We have also put you on our church prayer list, so more people will be praying.
ReplyDeleteBlessings on all 3 of you!

I just received an email to pray for your dear, beautiful Pierce. As a sister in Christ, I, and my four-year old daughter have prayed, and I will continue to pray and get others who have tiny ones to pray on his behalf as well. In Christ alone, L Musgrove
ReplyDeleteNik, Lindsay & Pierce,
ReplyDeleteYou do not know us, but I believe you know my brother-in-law Daniel Wells from RTS. My husband and I are praying so very fervently for strength and peace for both of you, and for miraculous healing for baby Pierce. We certainly do serve a Great Physician.
