It's hard to believe that our little guy is 5 weeks old today. Every day he is growing stronger. It has been miraculous to see God knitting him together before our very eyes. I had high hopes of snapping a good 5 week picture tonight, but unfortunately the NICU is closed down while they admit 3 new babies. I'll try to get a few good ones tomorrow and post them to the blog for you guys to see how well P is looking these days.
Fortunately, we have nothing new to report today. Pierce is still hanging tough, with no new changes in his condition. He is still on the ventilator but there are talks of extabating soon. We are hoping that sometime this week, he will be able to come off and give CPAP another try. The doctors are still tapping his shunt daily and are drawing off a significant amount of fluid (this is good as it means the shunt is doing it's job). We are praying that the clot in Pierce's brain (the clot is what's causing the spinal fluid not to drain, thus causing the need for a shunt) will reabsorb and that Pierce will fall into the 10% of children who do not require a permanent shunt later on.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
Much love,
Lindsay, Nik and Pierce
