"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
Pierce is 11 weeks old today. I know I say this in almost every post, but it is hard to believe how BIG he is! I'm in awe when I think back on how far we have come. Tonight, Pierce weighed in at 4lbs 10.1oz (2100 grams). That's a lot bigger than the mere 670 grams he weighed 11 weeks ago. He's so big, that his preemie onsies (the ones that were far too big 2 weeks ago), are now too small! And if he keeps growing at the same rate, he'll go down as the biggest micropreemie to leave the NICU :)
Pierce had a great day today. We learned today that his brain scan yesterday not only revealed that the ventricles were stable in size, but in fact, they were smaller! This is the best news we've received yet and while it's still too early to definitely say that he won't require a shunt, it certainly increases his odds. We are so, so thankful for that and are trusting that this is God at work, healing our little guy. God is definitely answering our prayers.
Pierce did have to get his first round of vaccines today :( However, because he's had such a tough road, he didn't seem to even mind them too much. In fact, judging from his reaction, I think he would rather have shots than have his diaper changed! Please pray that he won't have any negative side effects from these.
Today, Pierce has also been reunited with some of his long lost loves, formerly known as his wonderful NICU nurses. His primary, Lindsay popped by for a visit and a quick cuddle and then tonight one of his other favorites, Gail came to work in Progressive Care and was able to get him on her assignment. Let's just say, he's one happy fella. He loves his nurses. (and we do too!)
Here's a pic we captured of Pierce with Gail tonight. Notice how lil' man is attempting to pull out his feeding tube while we are preoccupied. Sneaky. Very sneaky.
Also, check out Pierce with his best friend, the pacifier! (Notice the temper when it falls out! I think we are in trouble)
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Please keep praying. Pray that Pierce remains free from infection and that he will require no surgeries. The verse I posted at the top is one that has run through my head countless times in the last 11 weeks. Repeatedly, God has poured out His love for us. He has shown us that He is able and willing to do far more than we ever hope or expect. And today, as we heard the miraculous results of the brain scan, I was once again reminded of that. God has done, and will continue to do, far more than we ever expect or hope for in Pierce's life. Praising Him for that tonight and trusting in Him for the future.
Love,
Lindsay

That is such wonderful news. I am continuing to pray for little Pierce. I have been following him from the beginning with lots of prayers along the way.
ReplyDeleteI noticed him trying to pull out his ng tube in the pic before I read it. I thought, "Oh no, little guy, keep your hands off that ng tube." My twins were both sent home from the NICU with ng tubes so we had to learn to place them. We had to put socks on their hands to keep them from pulling them out.
Pierce is getting so big. He is absolutely precious!
I could hear the verse in your voice as I read it! Thanking God with you for all that He has done in Pierce's body and life and continuing to pray!
