What a busy weekend! Full of painting (the nursery), visitors and hospital visits. Pierce has remained stable and has had a quiet weekend. He weighed in at 4lbs 7oz tonight and was about 15 1/2 inches long. I can't stress enough how much we enjoy such boring days! We are so, so thankful to God for bringing us to this place (sometimes it felt like we'd never get this far!).
Pierce was a little puffy these past few days, so the Dr. ordered a dose of Lasix (a diuretic) to draw off some fluid. Fortunately, the fluid build-up didn't seem to affect his lung function at all. He has remained at or around 21% of o2. Apparently nutrition affects fluid retention, and since micropreemies have little to no nutrition when they're first born, this is a common problem among their population.
Pierce has two tests this week- an eye exam (on Tuesday) and a brain ultrasound (tomorrow). We are praying fervently that he will not require any more surgery and that both tests will reveal that the issues are resolving themselves. Also, there's a good chance little man will be dropped from 2 liters of o2 to 1. Pray that all goes well there.
Thank you all for your love and support.
Much love,
Lindsay, Nik and Pierce

ReplyDeleteJust finished praying for little Pierce, and you guys. Will continue to do so... I will make it up there very late Thursday night, so we might come up Friday in the afternoon, after Naomi's rehab. Stand strong, I'm so glad to see God all up in your situation! He is a MIGHTY healer! We have seen it!!
