life at home

I should've known to include in that last post that blog postings would become a little fewer and farther between since Pierce is home now. Indeed, finding time to update has become quite the challenge with a baby at home. I find myself wondering where my nurses (aka babysitters) have gone. :) No, really, we've been so enjoying our time with Pierce that it's been hard to put him down and head to the computer. But, we want you guys to continue following our story and praying for us, so I'm forcing myself to write. (Besides Pierce is probably glad that Mommy is leaving him alone for a little bit!)

I want to start out by thanking each one of you for sharing in our journey. It means so much to us that so many have taken the time to follow the blog and pray for our little guy. He truly is a miracle and God has answered our prayers. Here are a few shots from the day we brought him home:

Here's what we've been up to since P came home:

eat. snuggle time. sleep. diaper change.((Repeat 6-8x/day)) Yep, that's about it. Oh, and throw in the daily car rides and doctors visits. Just kidding. Well, partially kidding- that pretty much sums up our life right now!

You probably want to see pictures of all these exciting new things, right? (I mean, when we've waited 4 months to bring him home, EVERYTHING is new and exciting!) Well, you're in luck!

Here is the first week at home in pictures:

{eat.} (notice the milk running down his chin)

{snuggle time.}

{sleep.}

{doctors visits.}

Speaking of doctors visits, Pierce went for his first pediatrician appointment last Friday. He weighed in at...drum roll please...8lbs 6oz! Our dr was so excited at how well he has grown since being home.

Pierce loves to eat. And when I mean he loves it, I really mean he LOOOOOOOVES it. This is such a blessing because so many micropreemies have a hard time eating. In fact, many develop an oral aversions from being on the vent for so long. As of now, I think it's safe to say our little man does not have this problem, but we know that we're not out of the woods yet (many preemies can develop an aversion later on). Please join us in praying that P would continue enjoying meal time and that he would continue to shock us at how well he's growing. Pray that he would not develop reflux (another common preemie problem) as well.

It's hard to believe he used to look like this...

Now, he is starting to get quite a few squishy rolls! :)

How you can pray:
Pray that Pierce continues to grow and gain weight. Pray as we meet with the neurosurgeon tomorrow to hear the results from the latest brain scan. We are continuing to pray that Pierce would not require a shunt and that his ventricles would be shrinking in size. Pray that God would give us and Dr.Heafner (the neurosurgeon) wisdom as we seek to make the best decision for Pierce.

We will update again tomorrow after we meet with the neurosurgeon.

Christ is All,
Lindsay

  4. He's so sweet.....what a blessing. I happened to find your blog shortly after he was born, and have followed your journey ever since. I have twins that were born at 29 1/2 weeks, so I know the babysitters (I called them angels in scrubs) are wonderful! My twins are now 17 and start their Senior year in high school on Monday. Soak up every minute of him....they sure grow up fast!
