Breakthroughs

Sometimes you spend hours coaching, teaching, bribing... doing whatever you can... to get your child to do something. When your child has Sensory Processing Disorder ,oftentimes you endure hours and hours of therapy to accomplish a seemingly "easy" task.

Tonight, I watched (and held back tears) as our boy amazed me.

Up until this point, Pierce would not feed himself anything. His fine motor skills are delayed, but add in the fact that he simply cannot stand to feel the textures of just about anything on his hands.

Our therapist started him on a brushing protocol to help with his sensory issues. It's been 2 weeks and we're making tremendous progress.

During these past 2 weeks, we've seen Pierce begin to self feed from his sippy cup (before he wouldn't grasp the cup long enough-- related to his sensory issues). And now, this:

self feeding his puffs.

Look out world, we've got a toddler who's gaining independence! (Sniff, sniff)
