Brain Scan Today

Good morning, everyone. Pierce had a great night and everything is looking good, all things considered. He is stabilizing himself, which is a great blessing. The nurse said that there are some staff members that are going to start being "cautiously optimistic" and some that are still going to spew "doom and gloom." We know that ultimately it does not matter what their opinion is.

The big hurdle right now is Pierce's brain scan. Most brain bleeds occur within the first three days of life for preemie's his size. We know he had a grade 2 bleed, which can be reversed. We are praying that the bleed got better and did not move up in grade. Please pray for that. We are utterly convinced of God's faithfulness. The book of James has been coming to mind lately for us. Which is funny, because we have been looking at a blog that another believing couple made when they were going through this process a few years ago and they mentioned James about this time in the process.

A thought that comes from James 1:6-8:

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

We do not doubt that God will save Pierce. We are not "double mindedly" asking God to heal Pierce while placing our hope in the doctors and medical staff. God is in control and can use the medical staff, but we cannot put our hope in the medical staff in and of themselves. I think that has already been proven. We have dug our feet into the firm foundation of Jesus.

So, please pray, without doubting that God will answer affirmatively, that Pierce will have great results from his brain scan:

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? (Matthew 7:7-10)

I have been praying for months that Pierce would grow up to bring glory to God and do mighty things for His Kingdom. I believe God will answer that prayer. If the rest of Pierce's life is anything like it is right now, he is going to be used by God to turn many hearts to Christ. That is the ultimate prayer. Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, please don't stop; The Lord is at hand.

Grace and peace,

Nik, Lindsay, and Pierce

  7. praying for you today. no matter what you hear about the brain scan, just know that any predictions about quality of life are just that - predictions. our son had a bilateral grade 3/4. We were told to expect a lot scary things. Not all of them materialized. God is holding your boy!

  8. Lindsey, my heart is crying out for you, Nik, and Pierce. God is good, all the time, and is not the author of confusion or doom and gloom. Keep believing in His faithfulness and grace and mercy. Nik, you have great power and authority over Pierce - speak life to him, encourage him to continue to live and thrive. It's proven! Daddy's have a tremendous impact over their babies, born and unborn! God bless you 3!!

  12. Nik and Lindsay,

Praying for you and for baby Pierce. I will also pass along this prayer request to my small group.
I have friends here in Savannah whose baby was born 12 weeks premature and they wrote a blog throughout their ordeal. I wanted to share it with you in hopes that it will uplift you. The site is: http://bradyfaith.com/
Their daughter will be 3 years old this July! Praying the same for baby Pierce.
