update

I am sitting by Pierce's bedside as I type this blog. He looks so peaceful, sleeping in his isolette. At first glance, I could tell our little guy is feeling under the weather. His stats are up and down, which is seemingly par for the course. The main issue is that Pierce is more than likely suffering from an infection (judging from his behavior and lab tests). The biggest concern is that the infection is in his bowel. I can't stress how serious this is. Please pray that this is not the case. The drs. have started a round of antibiotics and we are hoping that this will clear up the infection asap. Also, Pierce hasn't peed in awhile, another major concern since that indicates that his kidneys are not functioning properly. Please, please pray that this hurdle is not as serious as doctors suspect. We know that they are trying to stay ahead of the game so at this point, all of the actions have been preemptive in an attempt to treat the infection before it gets worse.
Please pray that the x-ray scheduled for 10 o'clock tonight, does not reveal any worsening in Pierce's bowel. The earlier x-ray just revealed gas, which isn't uncommon or worrisome. BUT bowel issues are VERY serious in preemies. So any issue cannot be taken lightly.

And please pray for us as we sit by Pierce's bedside and wait.

Much love,
Lindsay, Nik and Pierce

  3. Lindsay and Nik,
I am praying for God's supernatural peace for you and for God, our Great Physician, to heal and develop Pierce's precious little body for His glory!! God has been using these couple of verses in my life lately and I can't help but think of yall when I read them..."Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7.
Praying in faith for God's mighty hand to heal the infection that is in Pierce, comfort you both, and give you wisdom in decisions you are making!

    Love,
    Quinn Wells
