Ignore the baby drool on my shirt, please ;)

I try to get Pierce to do tummy time and he just wails for about 5 minutes, then falls fast asleep. I don't think he likes the exercise.

Things have been well at home. Pierce has done so well following his shunt surgery and so far, no complications. We take him back to the neurosurgeon tomorrow morning for a follow-up brain scan and appt to check on the size of his ventricles.

Pierce also had his routine eye exam yesterday. It went really well and P's eye dr felt it was time to "graduate" to monthly eye exams! Whew. I'll be so glad when they stop altogether. It's really a pretty traumatic experience for ALL of us. But nonetheless, I'm thankful that his eyes are healing so well after surgery.

Pierce now weighs 12 lbs 10 oz (as of 10/3)! A good portion of the day I find myself just staring at him in amazement. Looking at his huge (ok, our perspective is a little skewed) hands and feet, admiring how intricately they were knit together by God. And to think, we've watched a large portion of his "fetal" development from outside the womb. What a crazy insight into how wonderful our Creator is.

In other news, last night Pierce spent his first night in his room! I decided to start sleep-training little man (aka putting him on a schedule) and it has worked beautifully! He now naps 3-4x/day and drum roll please...SLEEPS through the night. Hallelujah! In some ways though, it's bittersweet because it's an ever-present reminder that he's growing up way too fast. But I will admit, the extra sleep at night has been nice!

I've got many more pictures and stories to post, but for now, this will have to do.
Thanks for sharing in our journey.

Love,
The Franks

  2. Do you have a window where we could come LOOK at Baby Pierce? Daniel loves seeing his pictures online and today after we looked at them said to me, "pray!" Well, I confess I haven't sat down and prayed for your boy in awhile, so we stopped and prayed right then. Daniel is already Pierce's friend. :-)
